Written as part of Adventure Jam 2: In Search of Adventure,  Roots of the Unknown is a teaching module to help new GMs and Players learn proper basics beyond the extremely rudimentary "What is an RPG." Learn about best practices, behavior, failing forward, simple tricks for improvisation, and more. All while exploring a disease ridden Dwarven Temple. 

Easily converted to your preferred version of the world's most popular RPG or similar games, RoTU includes tips for the GM so they can add their own flair to the module, including easy places to expand and continue your campaign or tailor the adventure to the party.

The book is designed for easy of use at the table, with other 2-page spreads or single page rooms. Each Room includes succinct bullet points for quick reference to important details, allowing the GM to refresh their memory like using flash cards during a speech, rather than having to skim blocks of text or flip between pages to find the information they are looking for. Repeated details are collected in the Appendix, including streamlined monster profiles, stripped of extraneous detail. 

We hope that gamers who have previously steered away from Game Mastering will try again with a simple and straightforward adventure that helps ease them into the role.
